Anglim ‘Cameo’ 2010

CENTRAL COAST | CALIFORNIA | $24
Pear and white grape with notes of grapefruit, jasmine and stony minerals. Delicately flavored, slightly floral and balanced with intricate interplay between fruit, soil and acidity. Very easy drinking. But no small-roll performer, she; we have a player, albeit one less recognized. 48% Grenache Blanc, 47% Viognier, 5% Rousanne. A good wine and a real value. (Reviewed 8/10/14)

Stolpman ‘L’Avion’ 2007

SANTA YNEZ VALLEY | CALIFORNIA | $38
Sublime fruit of guava, grapefruit, Meyer lemon and a hint of fig, plus mineral-rich flavors of wet stones and chalk, highlighted with notes of delicate honeysuckle up front and sturdy citrus peel on the lingering finish. Ever so slightly vicious and a bit laden in the mouth, yet also so very intricate and fragile. A beautiful medium-bodied wine with great complexity, balance and interest. Rousanne 90%, Vigonier 10% — with robust 14.8% alcohol. An excellent wine. (Reviewed 5/27/13)

Chateau de Beaucastel Blanc 2007

CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE | FRANCE | $96

Crisp minerals greet the nose with melon and pear on the palate, accented by grapefruit pith, honeysuckle, stoney minerals and a hint of oak. Fresh, clean and slightly weighty satin mouthfeel. Complex and well-integrated with exceptional balance — one note leads to many others with soft grace. She wears layered white linen this early Spring day, the sun still low in the sky and the air impossibly both warm and cool, and seemingly created anew for just this morning. 80% Rousanne, 20% Grenache Blanc. An excellent wine. (Reviewed 10/28/12)

Krupp Brothers Black Bart Marsanne Stagecoach Vineyard 2007

NAPA VALLEY | CALIFORNIA | $35

Fresh pear, white peach and honeydew with oak, sesame, stone minerality and a slight floral note. Broad on the palate, full bodied with crisp acidity. Well balanced and deeply complex. She’s a curvaceous one, big boned and tall, with a sharp, bitter wit that wows. A very good wine. (Reviewed 5/19/12)
