PASO ROBLES | CALIFORNIA | $35
Black cherry with boysenberry and full organic flavors of compose, redwood and allspice. Plenty of mid- and low-note strength coupled with a natural fruit acidity yields a savory, dark-flavored wine with life. A full-bodied Pinot with a velvet-smooth mouth feel and a lingering finish. There’s a darkness here, almost brooding, as if music were stripped of all treble instruments — all bass clef, a la Morphine (ahem, the band, not the narcotic). A very good wine. (Reviewed 5/14/13)
