Jaffurs Syrah 2006

Forward mature blackberry fruit and notes of ripe plum and dried apricot, with complex flavors of allspice, cedar, graphite and garden soil providing a sturdy counterweight. Full bodied with exceptional balance, yielding a big wine that is still easy on the palate — a rarity in a Santa Barbara Syrah. A chamois smooth texture with a slight tooth provides tactile interest. Big and gentle — a study in contrasts: the liquid embodiment of Israel Kamakawiwoʻole. An excellent wine. (Reviewed 11/7/12)
