Ortman Pinot Noir Salisbury Vineyard 2009

Red cherry, raspberry and faint rhubarb carry this medium-bodied wine with cedar, allspice and anise providing earthy support. Balanced with a heavy-ish mouthfeel and a bit of a velvet texture with some “chew.” A strong effort from a winery that is sadly no more, having closed in December 2011. This wine is a hard-luck story of an honest soul making a fine contribution to a world that consumes him — in the movie, Henry Fonda plays the lead. A very good wine. (Reviewed 4/21/12)
