PASO ROBLES | CALIFORNIA | $38
Prominent barnyard on the nose reveals early a rustic, gamey wine. Forward dark berry and plum fruit with notes of cedar, tobacco, cardamom and bay. Medium, nearly big bodied and chalky minerality. Made with passion and conviction, daring to stand out — somehow, the horse-drawn plow employed here comes through. Estate bottled on an organic family farm on Paso Robles’ west side. An excellent wine. (Reviewed 12/4/10)
