Les Pallieres ‘Les Raciness’ Gigondas 2007

Earthy dark berry and currant fruit, woody spice, cocoa and dried mushroom. An old vines wine, 80% Grenache with Syrah, Cinsault and Clairette, that tells a meandering story from up-front fruit through earthy structure, a velvety texture and a bright natural acidic finish that brings out the best in umami-rich foods. You’ll find wisdom in this one’s deep-set eyes and labor in well-worn hands. A very good wine. (Reviewed 2/24/11)
