PASO ROBLES | CALIFORNIA | $59
Big blackberry fruit up front with a chalky minerality followed by tart acidity. A Cabernet Sauvignon for Syrah and Zinfandel lovers. A fine example from Paso Robles’ hot East Side, and an enjoyable drink. But like Cass Elliot in high heels, this wine lacks support and balance, missing robust tannins to balance the big fruit. Nevertheless, a very good wine — just not a Napa Valley Cabernet. (Reviewed 10/23/10)
